As per the scheduled appointment, today, 10.07.2026, Rajiv Kumar, General Secretary, along with Shri Kalyan Dan, Assistant General Secretary, represented the Postal Officers' Association (I) before the VIIIth Central Pay Commission at Kolkata.
During the interaction, we presented in detail the memorandum already submitted by the Association and comprehensively articulated the long-pending concerns of Postal officers. We emphasized the need to provide meaningful career progression to Postal officers at par with their counterparts in other Central Government departments. We also strongly advocated for the grant of Non-Functional Upgradation (NFU) in view of the severe stagnation faced by Postal Service Group 'B' officers, many of whom spend a substantial part of their careers without adequate promotional opportunities. This prolonged stagnation has adversely affected career growth, morale, and organizational efficiency.
The Hon'ble Members of the Commission listened to our submissions with keen interest and acknowledged the concerns raised. They assured us that the issues presented, particularly the demand for Non-Functional Upgradation (NFU), removal of career stagnation, and other cadre-related matters, would receive careful consideration while formulating their recommendations.
The Postal Officers' Association (I) remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the legitimate aspirations of Postal officers and will continue to pursue these long-pending issues until meaningful and equitable solutions are achieved.
